About Rediscover Movies
Rediscover and re-live the movies of the 20th Century. This was yours and your parents’ cinema. It was fun and it was entertaining.
Before there was CGI (computer generated effects) which we now take for granted and which are often the focal point of today’s movies, there actually were casts of extras who made up large crowd scenes, huge back lot sets, movies actually shot on location, and most importantly great stories.
As television began to threaten the movie industry, studios reacted by filming in color, presenting bigger stories, and increasing the size of the movie screens using processes as Panavision, VistaVision and Cinemascope. Many of the bigger films began to be known as spectacles.
Our goal at Rediscover Movies is to remember and encourage the experience of watching classic movies on the big screen. Rediscover Movies is partnering with the historic Heights Theater to recreate the enjoyment of this experience. Rest assured there is no comparing the watching a movie on television to the shared experience of viewing a movie on a big screen with an enthusiastic group of theater goers.
Movies will be presented in the original 35mm and 70mm formats when prints are available from the studios.
